About the Artist

Jordan Stanford is a full time ceramic artist currently living and working in Eldorado, Texas. After graduating with her BFA in Ceramics in 2022, she then moved to Lubbock, Texas where her career as an artist took flight. It was there she fell in love with atmospheric firings and began challenging the medium by hand building with porcelain and achieving vibrant colors in high fire temperatures. Her passion for hand building with colored porcelain grew after traveling across the country attending workshops and completing residencies.

Stanford’s midrange works could be described as bright and playful, while her series of atmospheric high fire works focuses on combining nostalgia and elegance. Inspired by both pop culture and the Rococo era, a diverse, yet cohesive body of work comes as a result from pulling aspects such as branding, color palate, and details from each subject.

Overall, Stanford focuses on her own past and child-like wonder. She conveys those ideas in both figurative and abstracted works. Cohesiveness and variety are vital in Stanford’s practice, she accomplishes this by staying organized and creating bodies of work that stem from the same idea, but are different in the ceramic processes being used.
